Walking into a healing space for the first time can bring with it nerves, uncertainty, or even a little resistance, especially when you're navigating life with challenges like Complex PTSD or mental health struggles.

For many who find themselves at the door of Shanti Therapy, the intention is simple: to feel better, to be held, to rest.

One of our clients recently shared their experience with Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) at Shanti, and we’re grateful to share their story with you.

“I came to Lindsay for a treatment, not really sure what to expect. I’ve been working through mental health challenges, Complex PTSD, and am also in regular talking therapy. When I arrived, I was welcomed into a warm, low-lit room that immediately felt safe. The gentle scent of natural aromatherapy oils hung in the air, and I felt my nervous system soften almost straight away.

Lindsay began the session with a quiet kōrero (conversation). She asked me some simple questions—what brought me in, whether I had any injuries or concerns, and what I was hoping to get from the session. She wrote these down, nothing intrusive, just gentle curiosity.

Then I climbed up onto the treatment table, still fully clothed, and was wrapped in warmth, cozy blankets, a bolster under my knees, and even a hot water bottle offered for comfort. I held onto one; it gave me something grounding to hold. Another was tucked around my feet, and it felt like home.

We started with a few minutes of guided breath awareness. Lindsay’s voice was soft and steady, gently leading me into presence. There were singing bowls too—nothing loud or jarring, just a gentle hum that I could feel ripple through my body. I felt safe.

The hands-on work began with Lindsay making contact with my feet, then moving to my head, then my lower back. Her touch was incredibly gentle—more like a supportive presence than anything forceful. I remember the way she cradled my head; it was unlike anything I’ve felt. I didn’t need to talk, I didn’t need to ‘do’ anything. Just breathe.

I noticed myself drifting in and out of consciousness, almost like dreaming while awake. My body softened, my mind rested. When the session ended, it felt like I had slept for 8 hours. I was calm, grounded, and reset.

I’ve since continued sessions with Lindsay, and I’ve found them to be an essential companion to my other therapeutic supports. Sometimes things come up from deep within—the subconscious—and we talk briefly about them after the session. I always feel safe and supported.

This therapy isn’t just for people going through trauma or stress. It’s for everybody. Whether you’re needing rest, healing, or simply a place to breathe deeply and let go Shanti Therapy holds that space.”
